Insights Into Art
Every artist achieves joy when they are inspired, to visualize and to share with the world.
We need an Arts & Culture Information Office right in the Centre of Town, a most popular spot to by-passers, tourists, dignitaries, visitors & locals.
"X" marks the Spot: corner section of Nowazi Luzipho Building - former Pleinhuis ( & old Shop in days of yonder).
"And why is it that we still don't have a local Arts & Culture Information office, where artists/crafters can share their business cards and brochures, and where, furthermore, events/opportunities/etc can be communicated?"

The perfectly situated old Baackens street Post Office (closed & vandalised over many years) should be an Artist Hub, with studios, shop, restaurant etc. We need to operate in a permanently based Art Market! Every day & around the clock!
Our Local Government needs to heed to the voice of our artists. This need and hotspot was identified and presented to Local Government - by local visual artists at large since our early democracy inception years (through the then Port Elizabeth Arts & Culture Council).
"A leading Nelson Mandela Bay artist is the driving force behind an initiative that would see the city’s dilapidated historical buildings in Central being given a much-needed revamp as art studio hubs while at the same time creating a market for local artists’ work.
Annette du Plessis believes the municipality could create a twin-pronged project if it put its weight behind the idea to form hubs where local artists could display their work to tourists while also saving buildings that are falling apart.
Du Plessis, a multi- skilled artist who is also the Red Location Museum’s marketing manager, said artists needed studios in the busiest parts of the city which potential art investors frequented the most.
The ideal venues for the studios would be revamped dilapidated buildings in the city."
